Promoting Wise Use, Science-Based Conservation and Education
November 5th Colorado voters rejected the radical anti-hunting, big-money groups who wanted to stop science-based wildlife management and wanted instead to use "ballot box biology" to achieve their goals. After losing with the Colorado Game Commission, losing with the Colorado Legislature, Tuesday they lost with the voters of Colorado. The defeat of Proposition 127 marks a significant moment, a moment when reasonable people across the nation came together to reject these groups and their ideas. This is a real win for the North American Model of Wildlife Management and confirms that biologists and wardens should be allowed to do their jobs. A job that has resulted in the greatest increase in wildlife anywhere on earth and has led to the recovery of literally hundreds of species across North America! Well done Colorado! The NMTA is proud to have supported this effort in every way we could. Congratulations to all of the groups who supported this effort, especially Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management, Save the Hunt Colorado and Dan Gates!!!!
Check out this great video addressing many of the myths surrounding modern trapping. This film is a fresh opportunity for the public to learn how Trappers serve science and the communities they live in, mitigate disease and human-wildlife conflicts and maintain healthy furbearer populations.
