Furbearers produce valuable and luxurious pelts which, when tanned, can make beautiful natural wall hangings, fur garments, blankets, souvenirs and much more for you or your customers. Unlike synthetic products, fur is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and a sustainable resource which is legally and ethically harvested each year. Furbearers are scientifically managed by NMDGF and their harvest is closely monitored by wildlife biologists. The species harvested are plentiful and not endangered in any way. Most importantly, the laws governing fur harvest are strictly enforced by game wardens and all trappers and hunters must be licensed.
Nearly all furs sold at the NMTA sale are stretched and dried, meaning they are not tanned. This allows the buyer to choose the tanning method best suited for your needs. There are a number of tanneries which provide excellent results for these furs at very reasonable costs and because these furs are dried they do not require refrigeration or freezing for storage or shipping.
The NMTA welcomes all buyers regardless of whether you would like 1 fur or 50. Buyers must simply register with NMTA prior to the sale and purchase the required state license ($15 - $125 depending on residency).

The 2025 NMTA fur auction was better than expected for cats and very poor for coyotes. Thank you to all of the members and the buyers who supported the NMTA at the sale!
